Drug Abuse Prescription Drugs

What is drug abuse and how is it different from drug addiction? In fact there is a very fine line between these two and the term drug abuse is in facto drug addition but it seems less devastating to say drug abuse. Both involve the use of drugs to the point of creating adverse affects to ones health, relationships, career, mental outlook, etc. Addiction usually implies a compulsive uncontrolled used despite these effects being created. If one is continuing to abuse drugs despite the adverse consequences then there really is not much of a difference. It is mostly a matter of which term one chooses to use. Both will eventually lead to one of three outcomes – Jail, Death, or Sobriety. I suppose if you had to make a distinction you could say addiction is closer to jail or death.

12 Step Recovery Program and Substance Dependency

Can substance dependency cause an addict to have liver problems? When my daughter started using we tried to find an 12 step recovery program center for her but the one we wanted to send her to would not take her because her liver was bad and this meant she wouldn't be able to do the program. Is there a program we can send her to that will help her overcome this addiction and get rid of the toxins stored in her body so she doesn't relapse? What kind of 12 step recovery program will be best for her so that she can overcome this horrible substance dependency?

Alcohol Abuse Rehab and Addiction

When I found alcohol abuse rehab six years ago for my addiction I was in total denial that I even had a problem. Everyone around me knew I had a problem though and with the help of my family I was able to find alcohol abuse rehab. My addiction consumed me completely and there was nothing more important in my life than chasing the high I needed just to feel like a normal human being. Today, I'm happier than ever and so happy that I had friends and family who cared enough about me to make me get help.
